July 10, 2006 - USDA announces that it is cancelling the Public Comment period regarding NAIS. In one conversation an employee states that the USDA never intended to go to a mandatory level with this program, and IF it does become mandatory then a comment period will be instituted then. Another USDA employee states in a different conversation with a different person that WHEN NAIS is mandatory then they will put together another public comment period.
