Kentucky has proposed a very strict law regarding NAIS. Not only would it require mandatory Premises and Tagging, but rather than a Tracking component, it requires a CVI (Certified Veterinary Inspection) whenever the horse goes to anothe property; ie, show, sale, visit, trail ride, etc. An exception is available - an Equine Passport. These have been recommended by the Equine Working Group as an assurance that tracking will not be required. However, they are a different form of tracking.

This is an excellent example of how USDA can manipulate words and get around objections. This is not yet law in Kentucky. If you know anyone in Kentucky, alert them and let them know it's in the works.
