Join SHA (no dues, no meetings, just a sign of unity) - There is no census for how many people are really affected in MA. Sign on to SHA and give the government some pause about how many people really do care about farming and rural life in MA. |

Ask them to Co-Sponsor - We have until January 22, 2007 to get co-sponsors to 1472. There is no House counterpart, so we need to get behind this bill, now. (Why isn't there? Welcome to politics!) |

Learn about the Farm Bill, it does apply to you! - NAIS is being worked into the 2007 Farm Bill, the USDA's Ag Policy statement. If it is included in the Bill, MA legislation will not be enough. |

We all have very busy lives these days. For those of us with horses, or farms, the time we spend doing chores is some of our most relaxing times we have.
And who doesn't love a farm fresh egg? some farm smoked bacon? the sight of a horse in a pasture?
Protect that time, those values, by voicing your feelings on Senate Bill 1472 - the Farming Protection Act. Take a few minutes to do the following:
What's the difference between 1472 and the other MA bills? Some very important things.
* 1472 includes all livestock owners and raisers
* 1472 stops NAIS in all its forms, Premises, Tagging and Tracking
* 1472 is perpetual, until another law limits it. The other bill has a sunset clause. SHA believes that this issue will be with us for a long time, but if we can shut the door on one approach, we can focus our attention elsewhere.
* 1472 doesn't place a value on one type of agriculture over another. It's inclusive, extensive, and cost effective.
