September 29 - Just confirmed! Virginia exercises "stamping
out," on 2 hog farms. Neighboring woman with a dairy cow going to auction
house is refused sales because the cow isn't NAIS registered.
Two Virginia farms received visits from the USDA and state game wardens, resulting
in the slaughter of a great many hogs, pigs, and some pets. For more information
visit www.nonais.org USDA stated that
the swine were infected with pseudorabies, which turned out to be false. This
disease is not a zoonoses that affects humans, is basically extinct in the
USA, and is recoverable. The proper tests were not done in the first case,
and only partially done in the second case. The tests confirmed that the pigs
were NOT sick.
This is what the Premises ID gets for those who sign up for
it. This is the process endorsed by the UN-FAO. Is this what you want to face
with your horses? livestock? possibly pets in the future?
MA has temporarily ceased submitting barn book information, but they are willing
to renew that action, once the USDA answers their question about Freedom of
Information Requests. Write your legislators, tell them how you feel and demonstrate
your fears with the Virginia case!
1/07 Update - The Henshaws are in court this week. Sharpshooters remain at their property trying to kill the remaining sick piglets.
